History of the Dragon Fund
|
In autumn 2000, the initial Dragon Fund team met with the Beijing-based All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the world's largest non-governmental organization working to represent and protect the rights of women and children. With valuable guidance from ACWF, the team traveled to villages in Gansu and Shaanxi Provinces. These regions have historically been the poorest and most neglected in China, and they are the focus of the central government's western development strategy. Of the many sites visited, several were chosen for funding.
